Next manager to go?
Who do you think will be the next manager to leave or be sacked? my Money is on Roy Keane after another bad result 1-4 against Bolton.

Re: Next manager to go?
its hard i dont think Sunderland will sack Keane yet ithink they will give him til end of season if he gets them relegated then he'll get the sack
i think Hughes has a good chance as the fans want a world class manager

Hughes easily they'll bring in some one like Lippi or Donadoni when they find that City only reached 8th place

Re: Next manager to go?
ince will go first. they are going to struggle to stay up this season blackburn. its going to be a disaster for them when roque is sold in january.
they havent done ince any favours since they sold bentley as well and havent brought anyone of quality.
poor incey. another one on the managerial scrap heap soon I fear.
edit: why nobody is saying keane either i dunno? he has spent 70 million pounds and the performance on saturday was painful to watch. players just walking around the pitch ffs.
keane or ince for me. probably ince.

Yeah i would think Mark Hughes will be next to go.
Maybe Roberto Mancini to take over, can't see Lippi leaving the Italian job already, especially with the Confederations Cup coming up!

Re: Next manager to go?
the owners would be insane to appoint a foreign manager. hughes is a very safe bet for now since he has epl experience.
remember the squad at man city isnt his, its svens still.
another season for mark hughes for sure.

Re: Next manager to go?
Hmm, In a way i agree but then in a way i'm not so sure. The new owner seems very ambitious. And i just don't think that he will settle for a mid table, UEFA cup finish this season. I suppose it will all depend on how much is spent in January.
Elano has already had a disagreement with Hughes, and i dont think it will be too long untill other team mates do either.

Re: Next manager to go?
from waht i have heard about who they are going after they will need ALOT,im thinking £50million+ but it also depends on if the player is willing to go to a club that aint in Champions League or are just after money AKA Robinho

Re: Next manager to go?
Yeah true, but i'm not so sure that Robinho went for Man City just for the money. He had a big fall out with the Madrid heirachy and was desperate to leave. As well all know Chelsea was his preferred option as he wants to win trophies and play in the champions league etc, but Madrid wouldn't let him leave for Chelsea so along come City and pull off a brilliant signing!

Re: Next manager to go?
who has hughes bought tho? the squad was barely good enough to finish mid table last season - what makes the new owners think one big name player gives them enough quality to be in the ecl? dreaming if thats the case.
and a foreign manager at this stage in the season? another ramos? no speekkee de engrish and no idea about the epl other than a few sky plus videos?
suicide.
nah they are sensible people these arabs. they'll stick with hughes until at least 2010.
ince on the other hand will be sacked if blackburn dont start to improve. half his squad is injured and the other half is being shipped out in january. with practically no replacements available of any quality he's going to struggle. seriously struggle.

Paul Ince has done terribly with Blackburn. He's next. Mark Hughes not too far behind. I can see Roy Keane staying.

Re: Next manager to go?
roy keane has a job for life at sunderland i suspect.
having an irish national hero in charge of sunderland is a marketing dream. i bet they get more support just from him being there than they do from any other outlet.
he's probably worth 20-30m a season to sunderland just being manager.

Re: Next manager to go?
I see where your coming from les girondins...
But what i'm saying is, with a team with the likes of Richards, Dunne, Elano, Ireland, Petrov, Kompany, Wright Phillips, Robinho, & Jo and also the facilities and resources that City have you must be doing better than the bottom half of the table. Hughes is under-achieving in my eyes and i wouldn't be suprised if he got the sack.
And i agree with you Ice, Paul Ince is struggling to life at Blackburn. I hope it gets better for him though cause i think Ince is a good manager, he did a good job with the MK Dons.

Re: Next manager to go?
i dont know but i just have a feeling that if Arsenal dont win anything this season Arsene could very well get the sack - 6years without a trophy for a "top 4" club is very poor

Re: Next manager to go?
You might be right there. But i think the future at Arsenal is looking pretty bright with the young talent they have got. Also i think that they might win the Carling Cup this year. Hey i know its not a huge trophy or anything but i suppose it's still silver wear at the end of the day.

Re: Next manager to go?
yeah they have some quality youngsters but i dont see them winning the league or champions league with out bringing players in - i dont think the youngster s will be able to handle a whole season at the moment and i think that could take several years - maybe too long for gunners fans?

Re: Next manager to go?
I went for Tony Mowbray. West Brom just aren't picking up points from anywhere. One fan I know is extremely depressed with football at the moment as a result!
Mark Hughes will be sacked, but I don't think he'll be the next manager to be sacked. I can see it being a long, drawn out affair like what happened to Ranieri in the 03/04 season. Man City will court every top foreign manager on the continent behind Hughes' back, he'll be a dead man walking and finally be sacked at the end of the season.
He's safe until January as he can say he hasn't had a chance to use any of the new money yet apart from Robinho. Then they'll want to give him time after January to get the new squad playing well together. That's why I can't see him being sacked yet. To do so would be extremely unfair.
ArmageddonAsh where are you getting this 6 years from?
See my post in the Chelsea vs Arsenal thread for my opinion on your opinion
As for putting "top 4" in inverted commas, show me when the last season was that we finished outside the top 4?

i dont see them staying in top 4 for long if they dont fix whats happening - a win against chelsea doesnt forgive the other results that they have had

Re: Next manager to go?
It doesn't, rightly said. But there are still 23 games to go, that's 69 points up for grabs.
Beating Chelsea doesn't make up for the other results, but beating them and Man Utd shows that we are more than capable. Do you really think there is no way we can work out a way to beat the lower teams? Maybe recently it has just been a blip? Maybe the fact we had a lot of players injured and suspended played a part? Players like Sagna, Adebayor, Van Persie, Fabregas. The Gallas debacle probably played a part too but it looks like the team have gotten past that now. Maybe things will improve from now on?

Re: Next manager to go?
yeah it proves your team is weak and you need to strengthen. you cant rely on the same players all the time.
but i think that it was a blip just hope it doesnt happen again (well i do, i dont want them to win anything )
annoying how Gallas seems to be getting the blame for everything - its the teams fault not just one player!

Re: Next manager to go?
To be honest I don't think our squad is that much weaker than anyone elses.
We've had Eduardo, Rosicky, Sagna, Toure, Adebayor, Walcott all injured at the same time. Van Persie has also been suspended for 3 games. They are all hugely important players for us and could all start. Remove the same number of important players from Man Utd, Chelsea or Liverpool's starting line-up and watch how they would struggle.
Man Utd: Remove Rooney, Ronaldo, Neville, Ferdinand, Berbatov, Park through injury and Tevez through suspension
Chelsea: Drogba, Joe Cole, Bosingwa, Terry, Anelka, Kalou and Lampard.
Liverpool: Torres, Gerrard, Arbeloa, Carragher, Keane, Kuyt, Riera
How strong do those teams look if you field a starting XI not including any of the above?
I kind of agree with you about the Gallas thing, but it still doesn't excuse him from making problems in the dressing room public and undermining the team spirit. At least it looks like they're over it now and some lessons have been learnt.
